Free Discover Flight Workshop

Whether you’ve dreamed of becoming a pilot, or you just want to learn more about how an airplane flies, Alta Aviation’s Discover Flight Workshop is your free ticket to building a solid foundation of knowledge about how an airplane completes a flight from takeoff to landing. And if you’re considering taking a formal ground school class and becoming a pilot someday, this will serve as an excellent intro to flying and a foundation for quickly progressing through a ground school curriculum.

Learn to FlyPerhaps you’ve just always wanted to know how an airplane flies every time you’ve seen one jump off the ground. Perhaps you have a spouse or friend that flies but you want to learn more about his or her hobby. Perhaps you have a career in aviation other than being a pilot and you want to learn some of the basics of flight. Perhaps you have a fear of flying and you feel like if you know more about how airplanes fly it will help you confront that fear and find a new calm when you fly on your next airline trip. Or perhaps you’re considering becoming a pilot and you want to get a taste of what flying involves before you make any major committments. Or perhaps you know for sure you want to fly and you want a solid, free, and convenient foundation of knowledge before you start your formal training. Whatever it is that makes you want to learn about flying, this course is a great way to start.

Alta’s instructor is a certified commercial multi-engine, single-engine, and instrument rated pilot and Air Force officer with over 15 years of instructing experience in multiple fields ranging from teaching Civil Air Patrol aircrews in aerial operations to instructing Geography and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) at a university. He has a breadth of aerospace experience ranging from flying gliders to being a certified Air Force space professional. He is being trained as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and is using this workshop as an opportunity to introduce flight to the public while also gaining experience and fluidity in instructing the fundamentals of flight before his FAA CFI examination. The short course will not be credited as official ground school instruction for an FAA pilot license, but will likely help you progress more quickly in formal ground school training if you choose to become a pilot.

Since the purpose of this short course is to simply introduce the fundamentals of flight to the public and to potential future pilots, there is no charge for attending the course.

The course will begin sometime around 15 May 13, and continue for the course of a few lessons and conclude sometime in June 2013, details TBD. Will try to deconflict the class times based on your schedule.

There will be two options for attending the course. You will be able to attend the course in-person, or you may connect to an online broadcast. Further details and a registration link will be provided soon. Further details and a registration link will be provided soon. In the mean time, please keep checking back here for new details and stay connected with Discover Flight Workshop page on Facebook.
